SoftPOS

What is SoftPOS and how does it work?

SoftPOS (Software Point of Sale) turns an NFC-enabled smartphone, tablet or mobile device into a payment terminal. Customers simply tap their card or mobile wallet on the device to pay.

How is SoftPOS different from traditional POS terminals?

Unlike traditional terminals, SoftPOS doesn’t require dedicated hardware. It runs on standard mobile devices, reducing cost and simplifying deployment.

Can SoftPOS replace a traditional card machine?

Yes it could but doesn't have to. For many merchants, SoftPOS provides all the functionality of a traditional terminal, with added flexibility and lower cost. But a SoftPOS system can run alongside traditional terminals.

What are the benefits of using SoftPOS for merchants?

SoftPOS offers quick onboarding, lower costs, faster deployment, and the ability to accept payments anytime, anywhere—directly from a mobile device.

Can I white-label Halo Dot for my business?

Yes. Halo Dot can be fully branded and integrated as your own solution, giving you control over how it’s delivered to your merchants.

What are the costs associated with SoftPOS?

Pricing is flexible and depends on your business model. Halo Dot eliminates the cost of hardware terminals, reducing upfront and ongoing expenses.

Does the device need NFC capability?

Yes. NFC (Near-Field Communication) is required for the device to communicate securely with contactless cards and wallets.

Does it work offline or only with an internet connection?

A stable internet connection is currently required to process payments securely. Offline transactions are currently not supported to ensure compliance with security standards. Offline transactions are currently being explored by Halo Dot.
